Now, that doesn't mean that getting into college is impossible for those that don't choose this route, but with a qualified counselor, they make sure you don't make any mistakes and help you out, even if it's just a little bit.

Re: Research finds no link between cell phone use and cancer

Oh good for us, i am happy to know

Re: E.U. calls for human rights investigation in Sri Lanka’s conflict

Wouldn't it be obvious for the EU to criticize the Government of SL? The LTTE is a terrorist organization and has been roundly criticized before(after all, the EU has banned them). The Government should be investigated for war crimes after bombing civilian zones and forbidding independent accounting of government actions in the Tamil held areas in the North. It would hardly make sense to investigate a group that no longer exists and wouldn't be able to be fully held to task; the Government, however, is hoping to gain international aid to rebuild, but before that is granted, the EU must be sure that the Government will be using the money for the right reasons, not for abducting Tamils in the capital and not fully integrating them in the country.

Also, it is hardly just a possibility of war crimes occurring. Last time I checked, the UN had satellite imagery of hospitals that had been bombed in a designated "no-fire" zone. Let's not even get into the child soldiers in the LTTE or the assassination of Lasantha Wickremsinghe by the Defense Secretary, who said that it was "treason" to report against the war. Of course, we could observe the arrest of three doctors who reported that the Government was bombing civilian populations.

That all said, I must agree with you, I too am perplexed as to why the EU has turned a blind eye to this situation until now.

Re: Red Shirt protests ends in Thailand

the working class poor being led by sombody-thaskin is is not one of them against the educated elite located at the capital. As Lee Gomes of Forbes (www.forbes.com) notes in a recent column, the web continues to erode the concept of "intellectual property."

As far as Amazon goes, I suppose they figured as a business decision, it wasn't a battle worth fighting, as it must be a small part of the business. Of course what's available on Kindle in any form is already dependent on the decision of the publisher, to make it available in that format or not. People have complained that Kindle's format is proprietary and can't be transferred; also that you can only download a new book while physically within the U.S. Both these limitations, I suppose, have something to do with copyright laws, which I think do have a legitimate raison d'etre even in the digital world.

Re: Brazilian model’s death

This truly was a tragic story.
